About Me

Hello! My name is Andrew Miller; I am a fifth year Ph.D. candidate in UCONN's department of Mathematics. My current research interests lie in the numerical solutions of partial differential equations, specifically with the finite element method. My advisor is Dr. Dmitriy Leykekhman. In the Spring of 2019 I completed UCONN's Graduate Certificate in College Instruction which aims a developing theoretical and practical understanding of collegiate instruction.

I am a Rhode Island native; completing my undergraduate degree in secondary education and mathematics as well as my Master's degree in mathematics at Rhode Island College in Providence, RI. During my time at RIC I worked in their Math Learning Center serving as a tutor for math courses ranging from basic math competency to abstract algebra, I served as an academic advisor for the office of academic support as well as provided support for freshman orientation, and I worked as a teaching assistant for the math department. After completing my Master's degree I joined the adjunct faculty in mathematics where I still currently teach. During the spring 2018 semester I was promoted to Adjunct Faculty II.

During the Spring of 2020 I will be teaching one section of Math 1071 - Business Calculus at UCONN and one section of Math 10 - Basic Math Competency (Online) at Rhode Island College. I will also be working as a graduate supervisor in UCONN's Q Center tutoring lab.
